I was recently interviewed by AMA Baltimore about my thoughts on this past spring’s Cinnamon Toast Crunch shrimp-gate and the larger topic of crisis communications. As I logged off the Zoom interview, I thought a bit more about our role in this industry and how we assist our clients at risk of losing business, marring reputations, and/or hurting their stakeholders.
No matter the organization, crisis is going to happen whether it is related to product tampering, cybersecurity, physical threats, health scares, or something industry-specific. It’s how organizations maneuver and mitigate the situation that matters. Planned internal and external processes and communication is key to preventing further chaos.
